Quick Tip: What Version of Windows Do You Have?

In this Quick Tip blog post, I will help you navigate your version of Windows to find the exact details that I will need during our remote calls. There are different versions of Windows 10 and 11, so please follow this step-by-step guide to find that information.

Windows 10

If your Start Menu looks like this, you’re using Windows 10. That said, please open the Start Menu.

Please click the gear icon, or “Settings”.

Within Settings, please click “System”.

Then click “About” on the left hand side.

On the “About” page, you’ll see many details as to the exact version of Windows you’re using. It may say something like “Home” or “Pro”. This matters, so please mention it to me during our initial remote call.

If Desktop Icons are enabled in any version of Windows, an alternative shortcut to find the exact version of Windows you’re using is by right-clicking “This PC”, then left-clicking “Properties”.

Windows 11

In Windows 11 (yes, there are different versions of Windows 11, so please keep reading), open the Start Menu, and left-click “Settings”.

Under “System”, scroll to the bottom and click “About”.

The About page will list the exact details of your version of Windows, including whether it’s the “Home” or “Pro” edition. Please have this information ready for our remote call.
