Why KevinTheTechGuy.ca?

Tech advice is everywhere. It seems like everyone has a blog or website breaking down the latest trends in technology. But if you’re looking to go beyond surface-level headlines and actually understand how to make your devices work the way you want, you’re in the right place.

What Sets This Site Apart?

I’m not here to bombard you with trendy news or chase clicks. My focus is on diving deeper—helping you understand how technology fits into your life and how to get the most out of it. Whether it’s breaking down complex concepts, fixing frustrating problems, or teaching you how to use your devices smarter, I’m here to empower you to take control of your tech.

20 Years of Experience, at Your Service

For over 20 years, I’ve been helping people navigate their digital lives—cleaning up systems, setting up new devices, and troubleshooting those glitches that can make technology feel like an obstacle. I’ve seen how frustrating it can be when your tech doesn’t cooperate, which is why I created KevinTheTechGuy.ca: to offer clear, practical advice that’s easy to follow, without the fluff or hype.

You won’t find clickbait or overly complicated articles here. My focus is on straightforward, no-nonsense explanations and tips designed to make your life easier. Think of this site as having a tech-savvy friend you can rely on—someone who’s got your back whether you’re dealing with a stubborn printer, a sluggish computer, or trying to figure out the best app for your needs.

Stay connected through my FREE newsletter, where I share previews of my latest blog posts and helpful tips delivered straight to your inbox. I’ve chosen to keep my website ad-free because no one likes fighting through clutter to find useful content. The FREE version of my newsletter may eventually contain ads, but they won't get in your way.

If you’d like to support my work, you can do so through options on my website or with one-time contributions via Buy Me a Coffee or PayPal. Every bit of support helps keep this site accessible and ad-free, allowing me to focus on creating content that’s helpful and relevant to you.

Services That Inspire My Content

I also offer FREE Remote Support and FREE drop-off computer repair services, in exchange for recording the conversations and the work for my videos and podcast. This not only help my clients, but also inspires much of the content I share on my blog, newsletter, and YouTube channel. Whether it’s a tricky issue I’ve solved or a tool I’ve discovered, I bring those lessons back to share with you.

Let’s Make Tech Work for You

Whether you’re here for advice, repairs, or just to explore the newsletter, I’m glad you stopped by. Together, we can make technology feel less overwhelming and more empowering—one step at a time. Thanks for visiting, and I hope you find the content here as useful as I’ve enjoyed creating it!

About Kevin

Ashli Barrett/With an i Photo & Design

I consider the content I create and the work I do a privilege, and I will never take that for granted.

Hello! My name is Kevin! I live in Red Deer, Alberta, and previously lived in Lethbridge, Comox, Leduc, and other places growing up across Canada, as my Dad was in the Military.

I’ve been incredibly passionate about computers since I was 12 and have used every version of Windows since version 3.1 (yes, I know I’m dating myself there). I have a Network Specialist Certificate, but most of my knowledge is self-taught from real-world situations.

Meet Nala

She’s my Office Assistant. She’s a bit shy, and it takes time to earn her trust, but she’s friendly, and she has a Queen personality, so she does things only if SHE wants to. She’s 9 years old. She’s more curious than anything, and she never bites, but she sometimes nibbles playfully. If she’s in the mood, she tends to say hello, then she’ll go do her own thing again.

nala the cat

She likes a quiet home, but appreciates some activity, playing with her toys, a few things happening, and occasionally new people. It keeps her from getting bored too often.

She has lived in a few places in her short life so far, but she has settled very well here, where she will stay for the rest of her life.

She enjoys getting attention, napping, playing, or looking out the windows.
