Kevin’s Picks: Revo Uninstaller
When removing unwanted programs in Windows 10 or 11, it’s a fairly straightforward process, but Windows isn’t very thorough in the way it does this and often leaves a lot of files behind that clutter up your computer, potentially taking up significant storage space over time. Instead, I recommend using Revo Uninstaller. The FREE version will do what you need.
Revo will offer to create a System Restore point, which should allow you to revert any changes should the removal of certain programs cause any problems.
Revo will analyze your computer for residual files left behind by the typical uninstall of any given program, and give you three options. Safe, Moderate, and Advanced. I always choose Advanced.
It will proceed to do a deep scan of your computer for any files related to the program you just uninstalled. This is typically a fairly quick process.
First, it scans the Registry for residual entries. I trust Revo, so I just click “Select All”, then hit “Delete”.
Once again, it will ask you to confirm your choice to remove this data. Go ahead and click on “Yes”.
Next up, Revo will scan for leftover files and folders related to that program. Once again, click on “Select All”, and “Delete”.
You are once again asked to confirm you want to do this. Click on “Yes”, and you’re done and can close Revo.
The typical way of removing programs in Windows itself usually works pretty well, but I like things to be organized and tidy, so I always do this through Revo instead, and I recommend it.
