Kevin Talks Tech: Episode 4 Part 1 – Mark Cherrington
In this part 1 of episode 4 of Kevin Talks Tech, I cover some of the latest tech news and give my thoughts on it!
I also have a conversation with Coalition for Justice and Human Rights Advocate Mark Cherrington. In Part 1, We talk about how he got started and his organization that advocates for the most vulnerable in society. We also discuss what frustrates him about technology, and what he loves about it, and I answer his tech question!
We also touch on important work he and his team does and tease what’s coming up in Part 2 of this conversation.
The Coalition’s work is entirely supporter funded. Please consider making a donation using the link below.

DISCLAIMER:
Please consider this a disclaimer and trigger warning for the nature of this conversation. Specifically, a suicidal minor and sexual exploitation are mentioned, in regards to the work Mark Cherrington and his team do, though the latter is only alluded to in a still very powerful story.
In part one of this conversation, we mostly focused on his organization, the Coalition for Justice and Human Rights, and how technology plays a part in the important work they do, and the challenges they face. We also touched on some of the uncomfortable, shocking, and dangerous situations he’s encountered over his decades of experience that have had both negative and positive outcomes, all things considered.
In part two, he talks about a suicidal Indigenous minor, and how he prevented at least one opportunity for her to kill herself, though those in charge didn’t seem to care. He also tells, again from his perspective, the story of a minor who was sexually exploited, though she grew up to have a seemingly much better life.
He tells these stories in part two of this conversation, which you can hear in two weeks. Please, I implore you, don’t let that deter you from watching or listening.**
I have also included some provided images in the video version to emphasize his points and bring incredibly needed attention, and hopefully resources, to the most vulnerable in society. We need to pay attention to this, and push our leaders and politicians to do the same, because honestly, these situations are almost completely avoidable! These stories are NOT easy to hear, but are necessary to hear, and may be triggering for some people.
Please also be aware that we do not, at any point, divulge personal details or identifiable information of any of the people he has helped, similar to what he shares on Social Media. Mark also makes a point to use fake names.
I am deeply proud and honored to feature Mark and his stories in this podcast, and I hope you will also appreciate them.
