Kevin Talks Tech: Episode 1 – Marty Forbes
Please Note: This episode was recorded and released in June of 2022, but it's still a great conversation!
In this episode of Kevin Talks Tech, I’ll give you a sense of what to expect in regards to this podcast and future episodes, I’ll cover some of the latest tech news stories and give my take on them, including the new law in Ontario forces employers to create a policy regarding answering work-related messages after hours. Pew Research says a quarter of Americans now get their news from podcasts, and how Apple and Google are introducing new Emergency Dialer and Accessibility features.
Then, I’ll have a conversation with Marty Forbes, who recently retired after 52 years in the radio industry in different roles, and until recently, operated a consulting business called RadioWise helping radio stations transition to digital marketing.
Don’t worry about scrambling to write anything down. You’ll find Show Notes, links, and a transcript for each episode over at KevinTalksTech.ca!

Marty has spent his entire life in media, particularly radio. He has over 52 years as Program Director or VP/GM of top radio stations in Vancouver, Toronto, Edmonton, and Calgary. He has been 'semi-retired' since 2008 and operating a consulting company called RADIOWISE INC. specializing in media, social media; and marketing.
In this conversation, he tells us a bit about himself and how he got started, his career path through the years in radio, his family legacy, and his time operating RadioWise. We also talk about what hates and loves about technology, and I answer his tech question.

Noteworthy: Marty was also interviewed on a the latest episode of the Sound Off Podcast with Matt Cundill, and goes more in depth in terms of a discussion on how much the broadcasting industry has changed during his time in the industry. I strongly recommend listening to that as well.
