Why Choose My Computer Services Over Going Somewhere Else?

Are you thinking about getting your computer tuned up, getting a new computer, or solving nagging tech problems? Before you walk into a big box store, let me share a few reasons why working with a local, home-based computer service like mine is a smarter choice.

Honest, Transparent Pricing

Big box stores are notorious for hidden fees and extra charges. For instance, Best Buy may charge $150 just to build a PC, but only if you subscribe to a $20/month Geek Squad membership. That’s an extra $290 a year, but ONLY if you agree to the additional $150 for them to build your PC.

They just make it sound appealing at $20 per month, but in my opinion, and from many of my customers I’ve talked to over the years, it’s just not worth it with the assembly-line nature of their work.

If your computer is there for a system cleanup or a tune-up, they'll try to upsell you on services or programs you likely do not need and that aren’t included in that $290. There will be months when you don’t need any of the work included in that contract, and from what I’ve seen, they don’t do it well. There are better ways to spend that money.

With my business, there’s no fine print. Whether you need a full system cleanup, a regular tune-up, remote support, or a completely new system setup, my pricing is straightforward. You pay for what you need—nothing more, nothing less.

No Pushy Upselling

One of the biggest frustrations with larger stores is their relentless upselling. You need to know what you need and be on a mission to get it. The staff aren’t there to educate you, their job is to sell you something. They’ll recommend parts or services you don’t need just to boost their profits. It’s not about what’s best for you—it’s about what’s best for their sales.

In my business, I focus on what’s right for *you*. Whether you need a simple system cleanup or a new system setup, I’ll never push unnecessary upgrades. I’ll evaluate your needs and recommend services that genuinely make a difference.

Personalized Service, Tailored to Your Needs

At a big chain store, and even some smaller shops in different places, they likely won’t personalize their service to fit your needs, and they certainly won’t put in the same effort to reduce frustrations and annoyances.

Earlier in my career, I worked at both types of places and can speak to that. Once I realized it, I didn’t last long there because my conscience wasn’t okay with the quality of work.

They’ve got ten other computers in the queue and don’t have time, whether it’s a new system setup or replacing a part. They may load your computer with unnecessary partner software, and likely will not take the time to optimize your machine for your unique needs.

When you work with me, I treat every service—whether it’s a cleanup, tune-up, or new system setup—with the care and attention it deserves. I ensure your system runs smoothly, without bloatware you don’t need, and I optimize everything to suit your usage—whether that’s for gaming, work, or everyday browsing.

High-Quality Repairs and Tune-Ups

Many big stores cut costs by using lower-quality parts or rushing through a tune-up. They might not even catch all the issues because their goal is volume, not quality. Worse, they’ll push you into buying more than you need—like an expensive graphics card when you’re not even a gamer.

I prioritize quality and use reliable parts that fit your budget and needs. When I perform a tune-up or repair, I ensure everything is done thoroughly, so your system runs like new. I also offer remote support, so if you need quick fixes or troubleshooting, you can get help without leaving your home.

Remote Support You Can Trust

Not all problems require an in-person visit, and that’s where my remote support comes in. Whether you’re facing a software glitch or need help setting up a new device, I can assist you remotely, walking you through the steps in real-time. There is no need to lug your computer to a store or wait days for a tech to arrive. You get immediate help from someone who knows your system and cares about solving your problem.

If you need remote support, I’ll guide you through it step-by-step without trying to sell you extra software or memberships. To be clear, as long as you have a reliable high-speed internet connection, you can be almost anywhere, and I can help.

No Cash Grabs, Just Real Help

Big box stores are often more focused on their bottom line than on customer satisfaction, or being thorough. You might end up paying for services or products that don’t fit your needs well.

My goal is to help you get the most out of your system, whether it’s through a basic tune-up, a detailed cleanup, or a complete system setup. I’m here to offer honest advice and practical solutions, without trying to squeeze every dollar out of you.

Why Going Local Makes a Big Difference

When you choose a local, home-based business like mine, you get more than just a repair or setup. You’re getting personalized attention, honest pricing, and quality that big stores can’t match. Whether you need a system cleanup, a tune-up, or remote support, you’ll receive customized service—not just another generic solution.

So, before you head to a big box store, consider supporting local. You’ll get better service, more reliable results, and a smoother, stress-free experience.

On my website. I have different blog posts. Some are free, and some are in the paid content area, but the point is that these blog posts I've written detail how I perform something like a monthly tune-up or a system clean-up.

I want you to know my process. I want you to know what I'm doing step by step.

If you want just to trust me and leave me to my work, leave me to my work, that's fine. But it's really, really critical and important that I have those blog posts there for you. So you can see my process. I really want to be transparent about the work that I'm doing for you. you can get a very good idea of my process, of doing a cleanup, doing a tuneup, what I consider to be the best data backup strategy, and so on.

I can't help everybody. I am but one person. So if I'm passing that information along, there are some videos, too. But the blog posts especially. Please take a look at those. I hope that you can get something out of it so that the next time that you have me do work for you remotely or in my home office, you'll have an idea of what I'm doing.

This is on top of the initial assessment, in which we'll discuss your particular computer and your needs.

Just as important, it gets the word out about how I'd like to see others doing this kind of work. So, if for some reason I'm not available, you can go to somebody else.

Hopefully, you can wait for my services, but if you can't, you know, if you want to get if you want to do a few of the steps, you're on your own, please, you're obviously welcome to. You can take some of that knowledge and those blog posts that I've written there for you, to empower you to do some of some of it on your own.

I encourage that, but I'm also here to help.

Thank you so much for considering my home business. I truly appreciate it. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please contact me at KevinTheTechGuy.ca.
