Kevin’s Picks: PatchMyPC

WIth our computers now constantly connected to the internet, any vulnerability in any program could potentially be used as a way to access our computers, though most of the time it's unlikely and targeted. That said, keeping programs up to date better ensures our computers remain reliable and secure.

My go-to is PatchMyPC, an all-in-one installer for hundreds of the most commonly used programs.

It will automatically detect which programs on your computer need to be updated that are in its database. Otherwise, tell it what you want, and it will take care of it. Click on either "Re-scan Installed Apps" or "Perform Updates", then grab a coffee or something; it should be done shortly so you can start using the programs.

It has a few other features, but I rarely use them, so I won't cover them here. Take a look if you're interested.

PatchMyPC is free for home use, though I would honestly pay for it. It's invaluable to me, and has saved me a great deal of time updating programs on my computers, and those of family, friends, and clients over the years.
